Generation Zero is another survival game that revolves around surviving against creation of human with the emphasis of gathering materials to craft items that will benefit the player. Personally, Generation Zero is such a great survival game as it introduces a slightly different aspect of survival which varies from the other usual survival games that often involve zombies or other sorts of undead enemies.
Generation Zero focuses on the aspects of humankind and what they have created. The videogame is very similar to that of DayZ, being that the player is thrown into the open world and must survive while also dealing with machines that have unique features that make the aspect of survival very difficult. One thing that is most enjoyable about Generation Zero is the realistic feal the videogame has to offer, there are multiple biomes and locations that are in the game in which allows it to appear more realistic, there is the simple wilderness as well as the snow biome located up north of the main videogame map. Through out the entire videogame map there are machines that lurk the open world as well as weapons and cities that are all interactable as well as containing items and loot that can be used to further increase the players likely hood of survival. The militarized machines that have been created by mankind were given names based on observations and recordings, there are a total of six machines, Ticks, Runners, Hunters, Harvesters, Reapers, and Tanks.
These machines are extremely hostile and will attack anything that isn’t another machine. Ticks are small hostiles that have a simple build to them, they are small and weak however, they can jump at unexpecting players. Runners are medium sized machines that are lightly armored and armed with an attached sub machine gun which they use when targeting players. Hunters are strong durable machines that are equipped with a twelve-gauge shotgun and a .308 caliber rifle in which they use to take out players from afar, they have strong reinforced armor and have a highly intelligent sensor for detecting movement. Harvesters on the other hand are relatively weak and slow, they gather resources through out the world and are guarded by two Hunter class machines, Harvesters are also lightly armored and equipped with a shotgun similar to that of the hunter’s class weaponry.
Tank class machines are relatively “self-explanatory’ tanks are best distinguished by their large stomping size in which can be heard from afar, tank class machines are equipped with a missile launching mechanism and a large .50 Cal sniper rifle in which if a player is unlucky enough to be hit by one it would be devastating. Generation Zero is a great game in general and has semi-new aspects that allow the videogame to feel different as compared to others that share usual aspects.
One more thing that allows Generation zero to feel more realistic is the unique interactions with the machinery, if the machinery has weak spots such as an exposed gas canister, then the player will be able to shoot that weak spot on the machine in which will result in an instant explosion. Note to mention there are also interactable locations that are able to be shot to create electromagnetic pulse explosions.
