DayZ is a post-apocalyptic survival game that takes place in a world map known as “Charnases”. DayZ immerses players into this vast open world that allows players to interact with many different assets within the game. Being completely new to this world, I had no idea of what I was getting into. When I first viewed the game on the Microsoft store, I was a little suspicious of the game as based off images, as it seemed like the game was going to be difficult and I was right.
DayZ is a perfect game for players who want to experience a difficult game with realistic features. The game is online multiplayer with up to fifty-nine other player and can be played on consoles and gaming computers. There are many things that the player has to watch out for when playing DayZ such as hunger, thirst, blood level, temperature and health meter, not to mention the vast open world is infected with a virus that turned all civilians and humans in into infected “zombie” like enemies. The video game forces players to ration any food or drink they may have and cherish and supplies they contain.
What makes DayZ so addictive and entertaining to me is the fact that you don’t know what you’ll encounter because aside from the fact that there is infected lurking in every city there are also the threats of other players. There is a chance that while playing, one may not just encounter infected but, another player which is what makes the game fun as the other player or players that you encounter have the potential to be friendly or hostile which also makes the game feel, yet more immersive.
When you start the game, you are placed on the coastline of the vast open world, as you head in land away from the coast the temperature of the world gets much colder than the coast which can be a curse as in DayZ it is possible to get sick and catch the flu. If a player gets sick due to wearing improper clothing in the wrong climate, then the player will begin to sneeze and cough as he/she continues to traverse the open world consisting of rural areas and cities there may be a player encounter that requires stealth to be carried out and if that player sneezes or coughs that can be heard by the other player ultimately leading to the sick player demise.
DayZ is a great and difficult game that require some skill to master which is why it only appeals to certain player however, it is the perfect game to play if your just interested in a new survival game, the encounters that the player will experience and play through out their gameplay is what makes the game so intriguing. As described in the previous descriptions, DayZ is realistic and features many interesting features. One notable feature includes the quality of certain items that can be found within the world, there is a slight chance that an item that is found will be damaged. The items that are damaged can be repaired, but require repair kits of certain types such as sewing kits, gun cleaning kits, leather sewing kits, etc.
DayZ is a great game as it offers many ways to enjoy and play it, now the videogame may only appeal to certain players but for the ones that do will most likely enjoy the gameplay.
